Communications Consultant
Sam Ryan
Hi, I’m Sam. I joined VTMH in December 2024. I’m the team’s Communications Consultant, so I’m focused on helping the team say what they want to say in the most engaging and considered way possible. I help VTMH promote their valuable work, reach new audiences, and nurture existing ones. I’m excited to work in a team that is so passionate about mental health for CALD communities.
I’ve worked in higher education as a tutor, a researcher, and a communications specialist. I’ve also worked for a few small publishers as an editor and content manager. My passions are writing and communications, and I have a firm belief in the importance of supporting marginalised communities.
For the past few years, I’ve been working on a thesis though the University of Tasmania’s School of English. I’ve also reviewed poetry and other work for several publications, including The Conversation, Australian Book Review, Cordite, and the Australian Journal of Biography and History. I believe that through literature and language, and the way they help share experiences, people are able to connect regardless of their backgrounds.
During my time with VTMH, I hope to help the team let the sector know about all the great work they do.
