Education and Service Development Consultant
Mallika Murthy
Hi, I’m Mallika. I’m an Education and Service Consultant working with VTMH. I started in 2026.
As a social worker with eight years of experience across community services and mental health, I bring a strong commitment to social justice, cultural humility, intersectional practice, and ongoing learning.
I am passionate about supporting culturally responsive and equitable mental health care, and I have a particular interest in youth mental health, digital mental health, and working collaboratively to address systemic barriers that affect communities’ access to care.
Throughout my career, I have worked across a range of clinical and non-clinical settings, including youth mental health, , community services, peer support, digital mental health, and community legal centres. Over the past five years, my work has focused largely on workforce development, training, policy reform, and advocacy.
Some highlights from my previous work include:
- Co-convening the Smart Justice for Young People Coalition, which brought together more than 40 organisations working to address the over-representation of children and young people from five cohorts in the criminal legal system.
- Being part of the inaugural Refugee and Migrant Practice Team at headspace National, helping to explore and strengthen culturally responsive approaches for young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds across the headspace network.
I am excited to contribute to work that advances culturally responsive and equitable mental health care across Victoria. I look forward to collaborating with communities, healthcare workers, and partner organisations to support meaningful change at both organisational and system-wide levels.
